Mission and Goals

We hope to join in and assist in the efforts of local farmers and artisans to offer local goods, services and products to the public while offering a feeling of community and acceptance. We enjoy working with others in a joint effort to share with, learn from and teach one another. In order to do this, we plan to offer small group lessons and classes for all ages, farm events including farm birthday parties and a farm store that will have not only our products, but those from your other local faves. We have been diligently working to improve the grounds on the farm and growing our animal population for our petting area with the goal to start offering classes, programs and events in the Spring of 2026.

Pasture Raised Poultry

We raise and process Cornish Cross Chicken for meat here at Turnpike Farm. We strive to give our chickens a happy and fulfilled life here on the farm. After spending 3 weeks in the barn staying toasty warm, they transition to the great outdoors where they spend the rest of their time here on green pasture. They were moved around to fresh pasture daily to three times per day until their processing right here on the farm.

On top of being moved on fresh pasture, they were kept dry from the rains, warm from the cold, safe from predators and fed only the best feed.

Our chickens are fed Non-GMO grain grown locally at Clover Hill Farm in Gilbertville, MA. They grow the grains and prepare to order. https://cloverhillfarm.info/local-livestock-grains/ We also ferment our chicken feed which is a 3-4 day process to improve health and digestion.

We give our animals a good life and in return they provide for us and our community.

Pastured Eggs

Currently, Turnpike Farm is the home of around 160 laying hens. Breeds include Black Australorp, Rhode Island Red, Barred Rock, Isla Brown, Buff Orpington and a few ornamental breeds. Our chickens are some of the lucky ones “at least that is what we strive for”. One they are big enough and feathered, they are introduced to the flock where they will live in their EGG-stravagant mobile chicken coop. The coop is moved throughout the pastures every 2 to 3 days beginning in the spring as soon as the snow melts until it flies again the following winter.

The product of raising our chickens in this way is a remarkably delicious nutrient packed egg with golden yellow/orange yolks. Our eggs are available in the farmstore for purchase at $7.00/dozen.
